Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a common and essential way to boost the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of extra damage and more AD or even more affixes.
Often times however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear due to their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They improve the stats of the item they are connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. They can also be salvaged using an expert or higher salvage kit to salvage upgrade components from items.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to absorb. The damage absorption of an item of armor will increase when it is upgraded to the highest upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be more heavy.
There are several different types of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different impact. Certain upgrades grant armor an additional number of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter.
