Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The process of upgrading an item, often known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stat linearly.
Players can recycle six items at a time to get a gauge of each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling items scales according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be achieved by a variety of methods, including by using upgrade components or increasing the rarity or mark level. In addition there are many items that can be reforged, which can boost their stats even more.
Upgradeable items are available all over the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The main way to upgrade equipment is by making use of upgrade components which are components that can be slotted into equipment. Most equipment has slots to upgrade and some require a certain amount of upgrade. Certain upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others offer an overall bonus.
There are many types of upgrade elements available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments, can be placed on any equipment and offer lower bonuses than upgrades for specific equipment. Glyphs can be placed in gathering tools, and provide various bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to supplying additional crafting materials.
Select the item in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen, showing the expected stats after the upgrade, and any materials or components required. If you don't have enough of either the two, the Upgrade button will show as Blocked.
The upper-right corner displays the amount of upgrade components required for an item. The cost of upgrading increases with the level of the upgrade and its rarity, however it can be reduced through various methods, such as buying upgrades from a retailer or trading them to other players.
Almost all weapons can be upgraded by a prefix upgrade, such as an insignia or a rune. Many can be upgraded with an upgrade suffix. These upgrades include an adjective in the name of the item like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to communicate visual information. They animate in order to grab the attention of the viewer and spark curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics body language, making them more effective in conveying messages across language barriers. Glyphs also improve the likelihood of remembering a message by evoking an experience of familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph comes with a range of values it can increase a stat's value according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This range is the maximum value that the glyph can improve a stat by, not the amount that it actually improves it by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and quality of the item you're enchanting it to.
The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items can't be repaired or replaced without dismantling the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it hasn't been applied to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
You can remove the glyph using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will destroy the item in which it is installed, but you can recover the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards, therefore it should not be considered as a loss.
If item upgrade take an item off after putting a glyph on it, the shards of the glyph will vanish. You can also add a glyph to your equipment to add a bonus. Deferred Damage, for example can store damage, and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is useful for players who suffer lots of damage from enemies, but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens let players alter the affixes they use on their weapons and equipment, and can be found in a variety of ways, including in mistery boxes or as rare drops from skulled creatures, or from killing bosses. Each reroll token gives the player a brand new random affix, which is usually better than the original one. Reroll tokens can also be a good option to reroll stats on weapons, which can be upgraded to increase damage or perks.
Rerolled items are not listed in the menu of upgrade options, however they are still able to be upgraded. By pressing the "upgrade button", you can recycle the rerolled items. This will change the appearance of the window for the item, and allow up to six items be selected for recycling. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is by the rarity of the item as well as its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable for recycling than lower-leveled ones.
In addition to reroll tokens, players can use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to roll the traits of a weapon in an upgraded unit. Rerolls will determine the % chance of a weapon trait; if it rolls higher, the weapon will be upgraded, and if it rolls lower, it remains unchanged. Weapons can be repeatedly rolled up to three times.
Rerolling is a great method to improve an item. However, players should be aware that the total ilvl will be diminished by the number of the rerolls required to bring it to the final level. This effect of lowering is most effective for ring items and Diadems that do not have any alternatives to raise their ilvls.
The system of rerolls has been criticised by players for being expensive and it's more fair to let people pay for it using money or a food item which would allow them to change their builds without wasting time and effort. However paying for rerolls is not something that the developers would like to incorporate at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to add an option to change the race in the near future.
Leveling
There are several ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade which boosts the upgrade value of the stat. The alternative is to increase the effect of an upgrade, which boosts the healing or damage for a stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel, but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
When you upgrade items It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases, a better roll will be derived from glyphs, however there are also possibilities for more or unique rolls. The type of item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a unique or rare item to a unique item type, then it's likely to gaining an additional level.
Upgrading items can be costly especially when you're upgrading an item of equipment from a standard to legendary track. The cost of upgrading an item will be contingent on its base iLevel as well as the amount of upgrade levels. Some upgrade tracks also require crests to be completed in order to move on to the next level.
If you're lucky the upgraded item will reach the maximum level of its upgrade track, and will unlock an additional bonus effect. This will give you a substantial boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect is different with each upgrade level. In general, the upgrade effect is increased by +3.
Depending on the item's base level and upgrade route, the iLevel of the upgraded item will also change. For example, an item that is upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an extraordinary one can be expected to gain the Enhanced Defence of the new base item.
