Diablo 4 Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items let players raise the level of items that can be equipped, such as weapons, armor, and trinkets up to a certain amount. You can upgrade items at any NPC that accepts the appropriate currency.
Slots are used to components to upgrade equipment in order to gain attributes bonuses and other effects. They are generally slot-restricted, but there are certain universal upgrades.
Rerolling
In Diablo 4, a player can reroll a item upgrade. This is done through the Level Up mechanic, which pauses the game and displays the list of four randomly selected upgrades. However players should be cautious when choosing an upgrade because they will not know what the new stats will be until the item has been being rerolled.

Certain sets have set bonuses that can provide additional effects if Link wears the whole set. These bonuses are useful for certain situations, like when exploring the Gerudo Desert and in dungeons. Universal upgrades are able to be installed on any type of equipment. These upgrades offer smaller bonuses than the type-restricted ones however, they are more easy to obtain. Requirements

The amount of stats an item can upgrade depends on its rarity. Upgrades are available in dungeons, raids or purchased from vendors. You can also find them in random items or by collecting other players' loot.
There's no tenable game design solution to the issue of the "not worth it" feeling that some players feel about upgrading certain items. The game should show more information on its compare interface on an upgrade, such as: "X stats gained, or X stats loss." This isn't feasible to implement because of the complexity of the process. There isn't enough room in the UI to make it work.
A script that checks an item's upgrade requirements before allowing the item to be upgraded is an alternative option. This approach is best for systems that have an extremely small number of upgradable items and simple upgrade dependencies. A sword can be upgraded from Sword+1 to Sword+2. Costs
